Ahmelie is a crafter at heart. She wants to inspire you with her works and hopes that you will create. I don't know about you but looking at the fabrics in her shop makes me want to break out my sewing machine!!! Ahmelie carries tons of goods for baby; burp clothes, hooded towels in Amy Butler designer fabric, quilts, and swaddlers. She also sells coffee cuffs, reusable snack bags, and designer fabrics.

Chicks and Hoot Owls Chocolate Baby Burp Cloth Set (3)
Ahmelie sells burp cloth sets in such great combinations of colors and styles.

Amy Butler Organic Watermelon Hooded Baby/Child Bath Beach Pool Towel
Love these hooded towels. Amy Butler is one of my favorite fabric designers and Ahmelie has done some great things with her fabrics.

Retro Flowers Baby Blanket Swaddler--LARGE
These swaddlers are much bigger than the average swaddling/receiving blanket. It makes them so much more versatile.

Ahmelie also has a blog. You must check it out. Right now she has some great recipes up in a series called Top Ten Edible and Easy Christmas Gifts You Can Make Yourself. Some of the recipes include Caramel Popcorn, Cran Crackle Bars, and Chocolate Peppermint sticks. Her blog has lots of great Do-It-Yourself projects to do with the little ones as well.

The Review

Ahmelie sent me a swaddler blanket in a cute blue butterfly print to review. Blankets are always needed when babies are little and this one has certainly come in handy. For about the first week of baby's life, she didn't wear clothes, only cloth diapers and blankets. This blanket was a go-to for swaddling baby, which my husband is awesome at!!!

The blanket is generously sized. At 44" square, its size makes it useful for so many different things. The blanket swaddles nicely and is a great weight. The 100% flannel fabric is lightweight but warm and super soft. It folds up nicely and can easily be thrown in the diaper bag to take along with you on outings. The blanket also washes up nicely. Sometimes, when new things are washed, the edges will curl up or the shape of the item isn't the same. That never happened with this blanket. The edges stayed nice and crisp and the flannel became even softer! The craftsmanship of Ahmelie's work is wonderful. You can tell that a lot of handmade love and time went into her products.

My Organic Breast Pads Review and Sponsorship Spotlight

Since my new little girl is here, I decided to celebrate with a fun event, Newborn in the New Year! There is going to be lots of great reviews and giveaways highlighting many of the things that I find essential for newborns and their parents. I'm going to be doing a sponsorship spotlight for each sponsor and there will be chances for extra entries into each sponsor's giveaway at the end of the post. First up is My Organic Breast Pads. (Sponsorship Spotlight post order was chosen via Random.org).

My Organic Breast Pads, also called Hip Hooters, was started by Nicole. Inspired by her own nursing experiences, she brings you stylish, leak free, reusable breast pads that work! Not only do these great nursing pads come in really cute prints, they are made with organic cotton and bamboo with a layer of PUL (polyurethane laminate). This keeps them from leaking through clothing. Take a look at some of the great prints Nicole has in her shop:

HIP HOOTERS...breast feeding pads...nursing pads with PUL...washable...organic cotton and bamboo...ecofriendly...in 'Geisha Fans'
I love the colors in the "Geisha" Print.

HIP HOOTERS...breast feeding pads...nursing pads with PUL...washable...organic cotton and bamboo...ecofriendly...in 'Go With the Flow'
I want these colors in my living room!

FREE SHIPPING...6 sets...Hip Hooters...breast feeding pads...nursing pads with PUL...washable...organic cotton and bamboo...ecofriendly...in 'Mystery Bundle'
Nicole also sells her breast pads in sets of 6 for a discount.

The Review:

Nicole sent me two sets of breast pads to try out. They came just in time too! The pads arrived just as my milk was coming in, about 2 days after baby girl was born. I washed the pads up and promptly put them to use. Each pad is 4.5 inches across and has a unique scalloped edge. Unlike other reusable pads that I have used, these are backed with flannel which prevents the nipple from sticking to the back of the pad.

These nursing pads have soft flannel next to your skin. The middle layers are made of organic cotton and organic bamboo. A layer of waterproof PUL (polyurethane laminate) is hidden under a layer of really cute cotton print. I thought that the PUL might be a little sweaty but was happily surprised at the absorbancy it added. Even when soaked, the PUL was very breathable.

I only experienced one leak with these pads. It was on an extremely long outing where I forgot to bring a change of pads when my milk was first coming in. These pads were wonderful overnight as well as for use during the day. These pads are also very thin and were very discrete under clothing.

Love the packaging!

I would reccommend washing them in a delicates bag or you will be searching your washing for them. It would be nice to see Nicole add a larger pad to her stock. I am a larger chested women and the extra coverage area would be nice to have.

Materials: Organic cotton, organic bamboo, flannel, cotton and PUL.

Cost: $6.99 a pair or buy 6 pairs for $39.99

Buy It: Visit My Organic Breast Pads Etsy shop to purchase

I'd like to thank Nicole for the opportunity to review her nursing pads. Stay tuned for a giveaway for three pairs of nursing pads from My Organic Breast Pads/ Hip Hooters!

To us Hip Mountain Mama is not just a business but a way of life and our little way of making the world a better place for our children and for future generations."

I couldn't have said it better myself!

The Review:

I had the opportunity to review a pair of Mukluks from Hip Mountain Mama. First off, these mukluks have been a lifesaver right after having a baby! Baby girl is a week old and these have been on my feet keeping me toasty warm. For some reason, all of my socks are missing in the chaos mountain that is the laundry and these have taken their place!

The Mukluks are made from 100% wool with a thin piece of leather sewn to the bottom. The mukluks are handmade in small villages supporting women and their families. Allowing these women to contribute to their household income is a very important and powerful thing. The mukluks are hand knit by artisan hands. Very well made.

I was afraid that the soles would be slippery on our stained concrete floors but no problems at all. I only wish they had a little thicker sole so i could wear them out of the house. They fit true to sizer and are a great accessory for winter! These would make a great gift this holiday!

Buy It: To purchase a pair of Mukluks visit Hip Mountain Mama

Cost: $12.99 (not bad for a fair trade, handmade product)
