Sprout Change (The Willow Store) Sponsorship Spotlight and Review ***Extra Entries***

The Willow Store is all about reusable products. In 2005, Catherine Bolden created Willow Pads to meet the needs of women who wanted a natural option for feminine care. The Willow Store grew from there and expanded to include pillows, blankets, reusable wipes, "unpaper towels", natural laundry care and cloth diapers.

Just a sampling of the great products available by The Willow Store
(From top left: ComfySlumber Organic Pillow, New to Cloth Kit, Hand Dyed Organic Cotton Super Wipes, Cuddletime Organic Knot Doll).

After trying many cloth diapers and finding that they were all good at something, Catherine created Sprout Change. The Sprout Change diaper is unique in that it is reversible and it is a completely adjustable one size diaper. The legs and back have elastic that is adjustable by a button hole that is accessible through the front of the diaper.

The Review

I had the opportunity to review the Sprout Change V2. The Sprout Change markets itself as a truly one size diaper. The only snaps on the diaper are at the hip; two on each side. The size adjustments are made via a hole in the front of the diaper that is about 1 1/2" wide, just enough to stick two fingers through. There are button holes on the elastic to adjust it. The back elastic is accessible through the side tabs at the hip. The inserts are made to just lay in the shell an put on baby for a fast diaper change.

Ease of Use: I got lucky and tried the cover on my son without changing the size settings and it fit him perfectly. I did mess with the sizing system just to see how it works and to try it on baby girl. I didn't find it that difficult to use, just time consuming. I can definitely see how one might find it hard to adjust. On the plus side, once you find the perfect fit, you won't have to mess with the adjustments again for awhile.

Fit: The fit is great! This is also THE TRIMMEST cloth diaper I have ever seen or used! Yet it is incredibly absorbent. It's perfect under jeans.

Materials: The shell is made of PUL. There are two options for inserts. The one I reviewed came with a Organic Cotton fleece/ Organic Hemp blend. There is also a Stay dry option that is made of Microfleece/microfiber combo.

Cost: The Shell itself cost $16.95. Starter Ktis start at $30.75- $33.75 (either Stay Dry or Organic). The kits includes one shell and three inserts. The price is pretty steep compared to other brands. However, if you compare Sprout Change to something like the Softbums system, which has a similar one size adjustment with toggles and elastic, it is less expensive (the Softbums system will cost you $39.95). Keep in mind that you also get three diaper changes out of the price so it is like paying about $10 per diaper change.

Care: The shell washes up really nicely as does the insert. The Organic insert occasionally took longer to dry than my other diapers.

Overall Opinion: The Sprout Change diaper has a learning curve but is well worth it. This is a must have diaper if you are looking for trimness and superior absorbency.

I'd like to thank the Willow Store for being a sponsor for A Blogtastic Extravaganza.

Real Nappies USA Sponsorship Spotlight and Review ***Extra Entries***

Real Nappies, the leading reusable cloth diapering system in New Zealand, has come to the US!
The pure simplicity of the Real Nappies system and the price point (super affordable) is what makes it accessible to all. Real Nappies has made cloth diapering your child even easier by offering age appropriate diapering packages. The Birth to Potty Pack contains everything you need to cloth diaper your baby from the time that your baby is born until he/she is ready to potty learn! To be able to diaper your baby for only $499.99 is amazing! Didn't start cloth diapering until your baby was older? No problem! Real Nappies has a Crawlers to Potty Pack.

The Real Nappies system consists of a prefold, a three layer PUL cover and an optional bioliner diaper liner to make cleaning up messes easier. The prefold is made from natural cotton and is free of chlorine bleach, plastics and chemicals. Cotton is one of the best cloth diapering fabrics there is. It absorbs quickly and is incredibly easy to care for. The cover is made of three layers of PUL (polyurethane laminate) for durability. There is no need to change the cover at every diaper change; wipe out and reuse. Change the cover only when soiled. The bioliner makes cleaning up messes easy. Just lift out and flush. The Bioliner diaper liner lets moisture pass through but retains the solids.

Real Nappies also has Swim Diapers and diaper covers in great colors.

There is also a guide to using the Real Nappies Diapering System. A buyers guide helps you know what products are best for you and your baby.

The Review

Real Nappies USA let me review a Sample Intro Pack in newborn size. The Sample Intro Pack contains a Snug Wrap cover, an Indian cotton prefold and a bioliner diaper liner. There is also a great pamphlet with some information on it to help you navigate the cloth diapering system.

Ease of Use: The great thing about any prefold/cover system is that you have the option of laying the prefold in the cover or folding the prefold over baby and securing with a snappi. This was actually the first time that I had used prefolds and covers. I really enjoyed it. The Snug Wrap cover is as easy to put on as a disposable. The velcro tabs are super strong and doesn't rub on baby's delicate skin.

Fit: Prefolds are a great option for any size baby because you can fold it to fit YOUR baby. I primarily used the prefold with a snappi and was surprised by how well it held in newborn poo. The very few times that poo did escape the prefold it was contained by the cover. I also used this cover over a fitted with great success. I was able to use this cover when my daughter was a few days old and it still fits her; albeit she needs to move up a size. (She's 12 lbs at 5.5 weeks).

Materials: The prefold is made of 100 % natural Indian Cotton. The cover is made of three layers of durable PUL.

Cost: $15- $499.99. There is a price range on these as they are sold in packages. The Sample Intro Pack is $15 and the Birth to Potty Pack is $499.99.

Care: The Real Nappies system is incredible easy to care for. The prefold did need to be prepped by washing. It washes up nicely and looks like its brand new. The Snug Wrap cover has laundry tabs that WORK! The velcro is really strong and hasn't gotten any lint collection.

Overall Opinion: I really liked this system. It's easy to use, has a simplistic design and is really affordable. The covers really were wipe and reuse and were of great quality! I also liked that the covers were white. I have some fitteds with really cute prints and the prints showed through the PUL. I never experienced any leaks with this system either. Wallet friendly with great quality makes the Real Nappies System a must have in any diaper stash!

Photos to come...

The countryside of Australia offers plenty of opportunity for inspiration. That's where Bronwyn's love for pattern and texture came from. She uses simplistic, yet whimsical designer prints to create eco friendly, handmade items for kids, parents and the home. The Little One Said Etsy shop carries bibs made from bamboo, changing mats, quilts, and bags that can be used large totes or diaper bags.

Fantastic reversible nappy pants
These bloomers are reversible and oh so cute under a dress or paired with a tee shirt on a summery day.

Fabulous Matryoshka doll bib
These bibs are backed with bamboo with a hidden layer of bamboo batting for extra absorbancy.

Eco change mat / burp cloth with festive red owls
I love the contrast of colors on the changing mats!

Market shopper/baby bag in Chocolate and cream ticking stripe
These market totes are perfect for how the farmer's market or a day trip.

Marimekko eco quilt with Unikko print
And my fav item... this eco quilt. So beautiful!

Bronwyn has graciously contributed a changing mat for Newborn in the New Year event!
Thank you Bronwyn and The Little One Said for being a sponsor.
