Golden Path Alchemy Review and Giveaway

Waiting on conformation from winner.

As someone who checks ingredients labels on everything, and I mean everything, I was more than delighted to find Golden Path Alchemy. I check labels for things that could cause potential harm to myself or my family. I stay away from Petrochemicals, synthetic ingredients, and preservatives. I especially don't want these things in my body care products. Golden Path Alchemy is what I've been waiting for!

In 2007, with a passion for pure ingredients that are nourishing to the body, Ashley and Minka started Golden Path Alchemy. After searching for products that they felt comfortable using and coming up empty handed they took the responsibility upon themselves.

"We started our company ... because we wanted to create a product where we knew the ingredients were pure, made with intention and care, and reflected a quality and freshness that we had not yet found in other products."

That is exactly what I have been looking for! I can't explain the excitement that i felt when I first read about Golden Path Alchemy! The combination of Chinese herbs, western herbs, essential oils, flower essences and gem elixirs makes powerful healing products. Everything is made in small batches with natural, local, and organic ingredients to ensure the freshness and potency of each product. Golden Path Alchemy is a holistic, handmade, herbal skin care company that cares about you and the environment.

For more about what makes Golden Path Alchemy so unique click here.

There is also a great FAQ's page with general skin care products.

I had the great pleasure of reviewing 4 of Golden Path Alchemy's wonderful products!

Illuminating Cleansing Grains:
Cost: $22 (2 oz)
A great cleanser for winter! After speaking with Ashley, we determined that I have dry skin in the winter time. This cleanser features the healing powers of Oats, Barley and Wheat Germ. Oats gently exfoliate and prevent wrinkles. Barley works as an antioxidant to keep skin supple. Wheat Germ deeply nourishes the skin. I love the fresh feel after using this product. My skin never felt tight or dry. The barely there scent of frankincense is intoxicating and reminiscent of royalty.

Refine Healing Herbal Serum:
Cost: $46 (2 oz)
This serum has 15 healing herbs to make a moisturizer that keeps skin hydrated. It doesn't leave a weird residue and completely absorbs into the skin. I loved the way this serum felt; very lightweight. The smell was wonderful. I'm not one for overpowering smells of any kind. The serum has just the right amount of earthiness with floral undertones. The base is made from aloe vera gel which is packed with proteins, minerals, amino acids and all things good for your skin. The great thing about these serums is that very little is needed to be effective.

Renew Serum:
Cost: $53 (2 oz)
This oil based moisturizer has rose, geranium and borage seed oil to help dry or mature skin cope. The sweet smell of roses from the rosehip oil helps restore that youthful looking skin and aids in treating dehydrated, wrinkled or aging skin. You would think that an oil based moisturizer would be greasy or heavy. Not so with this carefully blended serum. It helped with the dry skin around my forehead and chin. Never did the serum feel heavy or greasy; just hydrating. You can also use the serum to reduce scars and stretch marks.

Kiwi Coconut Exfoliating Mask:
Cost: $36 (2 oz)
This mask smelled like these key lime cookies that I make. The mask smelled so good, I wanted to take a bite! (Please don't eat the products). It reminded me of a tropical getaway (which was what I needed the first time I used it). The Kiwi Coconut Mask is a very gentle exfoliater. It doesn't scratch or scrape the skin but organic sugar and coconut work well to brighten it. Per the suggestion on the Golden Path Alchemy website, I applied this mask before I got into the shower and rinsed it off my skin before I got out. I would suggest this to everyone! My skin felt so much healthier and softer!

Party In My Pants Mama Cloth Review and Giveaway

*****CLOSED*****
Winner has been emailed. Waiting for conformation.

Party In My Pants is a fun and feisty little company that is run by sisters Lydia and Luci Daum. They make cloth menstrual pads in 9 different shapes and sizes to fit anyone's needs. Every Party In My Pants pad is handmade in Ashland, Wisconsin by a unique group of women. Party In My Pants wants to change the way you think and feel about your period. After years of dealing with the problems of conventional disposable menstrual products, like most any women, Luci sat down and sewed her own cloth pads.

I love what Party In My Pants stands for:
  • finding style and comfort in unexpected places
  • revolutionizing the way women experience menstruation by changing attitudes and empowering through education, while having a healthy dose of humor
  • The focus is to have women be healthy, happy and confident and for menstrual products to have a positive impact on women's health and a neutral impact on the environment.

There is so much information on the Party In My Pants website. You can scan the FAQ's page and find the answer you've been looking for to just about any question on cloth pads. Confused about which of the 9 pads you should choose? Take the Pad Prescription quiz to find out which pad would be best for you. If you are considering using cloth but afraid to make the initial financial commitment you can get a free liner (mini, demi or luxe) for just $3.99 to cover shipping with the Cloth Pad Curious Page. That's the price of a coffee, plus a cloth liner is probably way more environmentally friendly than that coffee!

Lydia gave me the opportunity to review Party In My Pants pads. I chose three different sizes: Medium in Honeymoon, Large in Lumberjill (such a clever name) and a Luxe liner in bloom. Since I've only had my cycle 5 times in the last 5 years (being pregnant and/or nursing) I used the pads for postpartum bleeding after the birth of Charlotte.

Left: Large in Lumberjill, Medium in Honeymoon, Luxe Liner in Bloom.
Right: (from bottom)Large in Lumberjill, Medium in Honeymoon, Luxe Liner in Bloom.

Materials: Party In My Pants pads come in a variety of materials. You can get pads made from comfy flannel, cotton, organic flannel or organic cotton. The backside of the pad is lined with leak proof nylon. There is a nickle free metal snap to keep the pad in place.

Care: It is recommended that you wash your pads on warm and dry the on medium or low heat. You can always hand wash and air dry too. I threw the pads in with my diaper laundry (which i wash once a day) and had great results. No staining! I was really glad about that because there are so many awesome fabrics! You can read more about cloth pad care here.

Fit: All the pads I used were trim and so comfortable. WAY more comfortable than the disposables I used the first few days after Charlotte's birth. The wings snapped well over my undies and stayed in place. I never had problems with bunching. Plus you could never tell I was wearing them; very discreet.
Favorite: I love the Luxe liner! Very thin, yet incredibly absorbent. I wore the liner out at the end of my postpartum bleeding and it was wonderful. I can see how this liner would be great for the very beginning and end of your flow too. If you're looking for extra protection while using a Diva Cup or other type of menstrual products, these are for you.

Cost: $9.99 to $16.99. There are also kits you can buy that include almost everything you need to start using cloth pads.

Overall Opinion: Party In My Pants pads worked so well for me. The pads are super absorbent; I never experienced any leaks. The soft materials offered superior comfort and a serious cuteness factor. What a great company to support! I will be buying more of Party In My Pants Pads especially the Luxe liner, it was my favorite.

Suuthe by Mari Review and Giveaway

Closed
Waiting on conformation from winner.

When I found Suuthe by Mari products I knew I was in good hands! My children have extremely sensitive skin. Almost anything synthetic or artificial makes them break out in rashes. My children both suffer from eczema and mysterious skin bumps that no doctor has been able to understand. Mari knows just how I feel. She struggled to help her son deal with his extreme case of eczema. After going to 13 different doctors, no one was able to offer relief. Armed with the knowledge of natural healing and research, Mari took to her kitchen. Suuthe by Mari makes an entire line of products that are 100% natural, food grade skin care products that work to restore and enhance the health of your skin.

Skin Repair:
Price: $22.00
Buy it: Click here to purchase

This is the first product that Mari made and it's still being made today. Skin Repair can be used for just about anything; diaper rash, dry skin, rashes, the everyday scrapes, bruises and cuts our kids get, stretch marks, arthritis, calluses and more. James' skin issues get worse in winter and his skin is so thirsty. No lotion can help it. Even after bathing in coconut oil his skin is still dry. Rubbing the Skin Repair all over him right after the bath helped seal in moisture and I saw a reduction in redness, itchiness and inflammation when used regularly. After applying the salve on the children, I would rub the excess into my cuticles and knuckles. Since doing that, my rate of hangnails has gone way down. Plus, I love the very short list of ingredients: Pure Emu Oil, Shea Butter, Organic Olive Oil, Beeswax, and Essential oils of Lavender, Lemon and Chamomile. Our small tin is almost empty and I will be ordering more when it is gone!

Soothing Lip Balm:
Price: $4.50
Buy it: Click here to purchase

The Soothing Lip Balm is great for any type of lip issue; dryness, chapping, cracking, soreness. It can also be used on the area around the lips for healing. I love this lip balm. It is really hydrating and super easy to carry with you. The shape of the tube really sets it apart from any other lip balm I've seen. It's an oblong shape that goes on the lips nicely and ergonomically! If you have ever smelled Emu oil, you know it has a certain aroma. It is not bad but very specific to the oil itself. It took a day or two to get used to the smell. Now I really enjoy the earthy, natural scent of the lip balm. If the scent bothers you, there is an unscented and peppermint option. This was also great to keep with my in my purse if we needed to apply the skin repair while out since it is made with the same great ingredients as Skin Repair.

Suuthe by Mari also carries many great skin care products. There is something for everyone; body butter, facial moisturizer, Shea butter, and pure emu oil. They also offer some great gift sets. Right now, these gift sets are on sale. Check them out for some great prices.

Overall Opinion: I am grateful to have found Suuthe by Mari. The purity of the ingredients is of utmost importance to myself and Mari. These products WORK. They will be a staple here for years to come. A must have for every home! My son's skin says "thank you".

The Giveaway:
Suuthe by Mari has offered the same products I reviewed (Skin Repair and Soothing Lip Balm) to one of you lucky readers.

The Review:

Not Your Mama's Burpies - Set of Two Organic Bamboo Burp Cloths - Teatime

Bethany sent me a set of "Not Your Mama's Burpies" burp cloths to review. These arrived just in time. My dryer has been "eating" certain items, mainly the ones i need the most (i.e diaper inserts and burp cloths) so when I got these in the mail, I washed them right up! I also have forceful letdown (my milk flow is so strong that it sprays everywhere and can sometimes choke my little one) and my kids spit up ALL the time until they are about 12 weeks old (when your milk supply evens out). Young Bananas offers so many cute fabrics to choose from. The Burpies are designer cotton on one side and bamboo on the other. At 10"x 15", they are the perfect size to lay over your shoulder. They are turned and top stitched for durability.

Materials: Cotton and Bamboo

Care: Very easy; throw in the washer and you are good to go! I followed the washing/drying instructions and noticed that the bamboo side shrunk slightly, whereas the cotton side did not. This of course does not effect the usability of the item but your can tell when looking at it. Perhaps if i took an iron to it it might look more even but, really, why would I want to iron something my baby is just going to spit up on? Perhaps a pre-washing of the fabric before construction could help with this issue.

Cost: $12.00

Buy It: To purchase your very own "Not Your Mamas Burpies" visit the Young Bananas shop!

Overall Opinion: I really liked these burpies! The bamboo was super soft and really absorbent. They come in really cute fabrics and are affordable. The craftsmanship of these is really nice; you can tell that time and effort and love were put into these! These are great to keep handy and throw in your bag as you head out the door. A must have diaper bag essential!
