Sponsorship Spotlight #5: Flora Gayle ***Extra Entries***

Next up in our A Merry Fluffy Christmas Sponsorship Spotlight is Flora Gayle. (Sponsorship Spotlight post order was chosen via Random.org).

Amanda started her Etsy shop, Flora Gayle, earlier this year when she saw a need for an affordable alternative to wool diaper covers. She felt as though paying upwards of $30 could prohibit people from trying wool as a natural alternative to PUL covers.

"I got in to cloth diapering to try to save some money (among other things), so I couldn't justify paying $30 or $40 on one diaper cover--no matter how cute it was! Especially considering how fast babies grow."

Amanda was lucky enough to have learned to sew as a child. Lucky for us, she offers cute, functional, eco-friendly, well crafted, upcycled wool diaper covers. Not everyone can pick up a pre-loved wool sweater and turn it into a baby-couture item!

Reversible Recycled Wool Soaker Diaper Cover - MEDIUM
I love this cover! It's even reversible!

Her shop also offers fabric knotted necklaces that are great for teething babies. You can even wash them when they need a good cleaning.

Fabric Knotted Necklace - Red

I want thank Amanda for participating in A Merry Fluffy Christmas. Stay tuned for a pair of winter themed longies to be given away during December 1-5th!

Sponsorship Spotlight #4: Zookies ***Extra Entries***

I fell a little behind in posting my Sponsorship Spotlight posts for A Merry Fluffy Christmas. Let''s dive in with a Review and spotlight on Zookies. (Sponsorship Spotlight post order was chosen via Random.org)

dozen CLOTH WIPES

In the heart of Amish Country, PA, an elementary school teacher turned stay at home mom was looking for a way to contribute to the family monetarily and stay at home with her kids. Zookies was born. Michele Zook specializes in cloth diaper covers, cloth wipes, reusable snack bags and bibs. Michele was generous in offering a diaper cover for review.

The Review:

We were sent a surprise cover in the mail. I was so excited to get it as Zookies was my first sponsor for A Merry Fluffy Christmas. Upon opening, my son screamed, "DINOSAURS!". Dinosaurs are a favorite as this house with both of my kids, but my son has a special affinity for them. He literally couldn't stop saying "dinosaurs" when we opened it. James asks for this cover by name!

I want to say that this diaper cover is the ONLY product that I've ever used that actually has laundry tabs that WORK!!!! As a fluff addict (Hello, my name is Sarah and I love Fluff.) I've tried many, many diapers and covers. Big name brands to small work at home mommy brands. This is it; the only one that works! The dreaded "diaper chai
n" is what made me a fan of snaps. Well, that and having to pick link and fuzz out of the velcro of my diaper tabs. Laundry tabs, in theory, are a great idea... if they work. And Zookies laundry tabs do! Here's a close up shot. It also shows the quality work that goes into each cover!

woodland friends DIAPER COVER in size M

You really need to go look at her shop. Michele has some of the cutest fabrics for her covers that I've seen in a long time. She get most of her fabrics from a quaint family owned and operated store because she believes in supporting local "Mom and Pop" businesses; a practice more of us should employ. Right now, the covers are only available in touchtape. Michele has a snap press on order so be on the look out for Zookies covers with snaps!

This is the only "action shot" I could get!

Zookies offers 4 sizes of covers. To ensure a great fit on your little one, Michele suggests measuring the rise (from the belly button to the back waist).

Extra Small: 13" rise (approx 7-11 lbs)
Small: 15" rise (approx 10-15lbs)
Medium: 17" rise (approx 15-25lbs)
Large: 19" rise (approx 25-30+lbs)

Ease of use: Very easy. The touchtape is a lifesaver when changing a wiggly toddler.

Fit: In the picture above, James is wearing a Babee Greens Fitted diaper under the cover. Look how trim it is! Even his smaller sized pants fit on over this diaper combo! I also tried the cover with our Mother Ease Sandy's fitted, which is on the fluffy side. There was plenty of room for Fluffy fitteds. This cover has room to accommodate all different diaper combos and baby shapes! We also never had any leaks or red marks. This cover is a great overnight choice.

Materials: This cover is made from PUL, 100% cotton outer and hook and loop touchtape. I've tried other diapers that have a cotton outer that wick when wet. The cotton outer always stayed dry!

Cost: Between $13 an $15. What a steal!

Overall Opinion: This diaper cover is a favorite with mama, daddy and James. The quality of Michele's covers are wonderful. Great stitching, awesome fabrics and laundry tabs that work puts this cover at the top of my list! Go grab one at her etsy shop.

Don't see a fabric you like? Michele is happy to work with you on a custom order.

***UPDATE***
Michele has set up a new website that she'd like everyone to check out. Visit www.zookiescrafts.com and take a look around.

I want to thank Michele and Zookies for joining us in A Merry Fluffy Christmas Event!

I'm forever searching for skin care products that are safe. I love Cosmetics Database which is part of the Environmental Working Group. The EWG wants to use the power of public information to protect public health and the environment. Anyways, the Cosmetics Database gives Golden Path Alchemy a "low hazard" rating, which is GREAT! You can read more about these ratings here.

Anyways, Sweeps4Bloggers is hosting a giveaway for a Goji Glow Mask by Golden Path Alchemy. I've already drooling at the wonderful products that Golden Path Alchemy offers.

You can enter the giveaway here.

Good Luck!

Sponsorship Spotlight #3: American Country Designs ***Extra entries PLUS Review***

With 21 great sponsors for A Merry Fluffy Christmas, I have to start writing more Sponsorship Spotlight posts. Here's post number 3 spotlighting American Country Designs. (Sponsorship Spotlight post order was chosen by Random.org.)

As a stay at home mom of two girls, Peggy feels very lucky to have her children with her all day while pursuing her passion for creating. Her oldest daughter, 3, loves being her helper and even has her own play sewing machine. Peggy realizes that encouraging creativity in her children is important and can be life changing. At the age of 12, Peggy was smitten with creating. Making her ideas a reality is what got her hooked. Ever since then, Peggy has been crafting and using her skills to make wonderful and high quality products. Making her customers smile and ensure their happiness with her products is what drives her to continue crafting and designing well made items.

Pacifier Keeper Clip - Round About Spa

Her store, American Country Designs, offers exciting and fun products for you and your home. Yoga mat bags, blankets, burp cloths, bibs and wet bags are just some of the wonderful products that Peggy has in her Etsy store. Peggy started making wet bags around the same time that she became interesting in cloth diapering her first child.

Medium Wet Bag - 14 x14 With Front Dry Pocket

Review:

Peggy was so kind to send me a small wet bag in the print "Owls and Leaves" to review.
I agree with Peggy that a wet bag is a "must have" item when cloth diapering. Although wet bags have many, other uses (wet clothes, swim wear, potty learning accidents, I even used one for a leaky sippy cup), they are well known in the cloth diapering world. Whether you are using them in the house for dirty diaper storage until laundry day or just for out and about, everyone should own a high quality wet bag.

The wet bags at American Country Designs are just that, high quality. The passion for design and creation that Peggy has comes through with every stitch. All of her wet bags are serged with a 5 thread safety stitch for strong seams. The seams are also sealed to prevent wetness and odors from escaping. The handle with snap is a wonderful addition to this wet bag. Having the wet bag hanging from the front door was a great reminder to bring it along when we were running errands. I always seem to forget to bring a wet bag when I'm out and about and James always seems to poo when that happens. The kid has great timing! So the handle has been a favorite feature of mine.

Another feature that I think is GENIUS is the front pocket. When packing up the wet bag, I always put everything I need for the outing IN the wet bag. If James needs a change, I'm always left wondering what to do with the extras that I brought (i.e. the extra diaper and wipes). With the addition of the front pocket, Peggy has eliminated that problem! Love it!

Take It On The Go Diaper And Wipes Bag - Kleo Black

American Country Designs offers wet bags in 5 different sizes with reasonable pricing:

7"x10"- On the Go Diaper and Wipes Bag- $9.95
11"x11"- Small - $14.95
14"x14" - Medium - $17.95
17"x17"- Large - $20.95
16"x30" - Extra Large - $27.95

(Front pockets add $1.00)
There are some specialty sizes also. Check Etsy for availability.

The small wet bag is the perfect size for running errands or a day trip to the grandparents house. We were able to fit 2-5 diapers in the wet bag, including wipes and a travel cloth wipes spray solution. Overall, I'm very pleased with American Country Designs' wet bag. And like I said earlier, a wet bag is a neccesity when cloth diapering. Go pick up one from American Country Deisgns.

Sponsorship Spotlight #2: Zizzies and Izzies ***Extra Entries***

Now let's take a look at another wonderful sponsor for A Merry Fluffy Christmas. (Sponsorship Spoltight post order was chosen via Random.org)

Zizzies and Izzies
is an Etsy shop that sells fleece diaper soakers, reusable snack bags, sandwich wraps, and hats and hair accessories for kids and adults.

I think Shelly sums it up well when she says:

"I'm a stay at home mom inspired by my kids to start making reusable, environmentally friendly and cost effective products. Other moms always said I should sell them, so I spend my evenings sewing and my weekends as a craft fair road warrior."

Fleece Soakers - Set of Two Small

Shelly makes fleece diaper covers, designer prefolds, cloth diapering accessories and cute clothes made from eco-friendly materials. Zizzies and Izzies has a wide variety of boy, girl and gender neutral prints for their diaper covers.

Cloth Wipes - Pink Flowers

Shelly's cloth wipes have a super soft flannel on one side and low pile terry cloth on the other. Each order comes with a recipe for a cloth wipes solution. What a great idea! I never used cloth wipes until a few month ago even though I was an avid cloth diapering mama. The thought to use cloth for wipes just never occurred to me. My first set of cloth wipes made me a believer. Using cloth wipes is one of the things that I wish somebody had told me about when my daughter was first born. I'd reccommend that everyone try cloth wipes. They are so easy to clean up and great for other uses around the house. My daughter uses them to blow her nose. She prefers them because she says Kleenex are too rough.

Snack Pack - Mod Fruit

Reusable lunch and snack sacks are a great way to cut down on everyday costs. By investing in reusable items, not only are you helping the environment, you are saving money. Zizzies and Izzies has reusable bags and sandwich wraps in great prints. I love the pear one pictured above.

I want to thank Zizzies and Izzies for participating in A Merry Fluffy Christmas.

Sponsorship Spotlight #1: BABY by danish ***Extra Entries***

Wow! It's Mid-October already. Where did this year go? It seems like just the other day we found out I was pregnant with baby #3. I'm due in 8.5 weeks! And that's about when A Merry Fluffy Christmas event will start! I know, I know, I'm crazy for doing this giveaway RIGHT when my baby will be born but, I had to take the opportunity. This post is the start of highlighting all of my generous sponsors! So let's get to it! (Sponsorship spotlight order was chosen via Random.org)

Waterproof Wet Bag- DOTS

Rachel from
BABY by danish has a wonderful Etsy shop. She features Designer wet bags, organic burp cloth sets, wipes wet bags, and (my favorite), Smell Buster Sachets. These little sachets are designed to be hung in your diaper pail, closet, tossed in a wet bag or placed anywhere that needs to be freshened up. They can be used with either baking soda or dabbed with essential oils.

Her designer wet bags are made with some really great, hip and trendy fabrics! Instead of PUL, she uses ProCare which is a safe, PVC free, waterproof fabric. They feature a large zipper pocket with a loop for hanging. Rachel's wet bags are the only wet bags that I've seen that have these super cute accents on them. Gotta love that little bit of flair!

Waterproof Wet Bag- Cotton Candy Pink

Organic is always a great choice for anything baby. And while your at it, treat yourself to it to. You deserve a break from chemical infested fabrics! These wonderful Organic Unbleached Birdseye Cotton Burp Cloths are made with two layers of the top quality 100% organic fabric. Coordinating flannel trim is added.

Tuesday Tag-Along

Happy Tuesday everyone. Let's hope that Tuesday was better than Monday! It was sure crazy here. Anyone else have crazy kids yesterday or was it just mine?

Bum Genius is having a Giveaway for the Tiny Socialite Series

Bum Genius is having a giveaway for an entire collection of their new Tiny Socialite Collection bumGenius 4.0 Artist Series cloth diapers. Two winners will win 5 diapers each; one of each print (Concrete Jungle, Jet Setter, Free Spirit, Retail Therapy and Eiffel Tower). They asked that entrants answer this question: "How do you encourage a creative, artistic spirit in your baby, toddler or young child"?

Here's my answer:

Creativity comes completely natural to children. It is our job, as parents, to supply them with outlets which allow them to explore that creativity. I have made it a point to give my children the opporunity to freely explore. We have surrounded them with toys that are open ended and can be used for multiple things. An example of this would be the beeswax coloring blocks that we purchased. They love them! Talk about incorporating all of the senses. The warmth of your hand makes the block crayons give off a wonderful honey-like aroma! My son will sit and hold them up to his nose take a deep breath and say, "Ahhh". Since they are block shaped, they don't roll away from you like crayons do, which takes away a lot of frustration for the little ones. The colors are magnificent! After my kids are done coloring, and sometimes mid coloring session, they like to pretend that the blocks are "guys" and they create a scenario of epic proportions.

Seeing your children use their creativity, without being prompted, is one of the greatest things that a parent can experience. It means they are growing up. Like I said earlier, creativity come naturally to children. We just need to step back and give them the freedom to experience it themselves.

***UPDATE***

Here's the link to the contest. Hurry, I think the drawing ends tonight!
