Jackie traded an accounting career for the wonderful joys (and sorrows and hardships and smiles) of being a stay at home mom. She realized that being "domestic" can be "green" as well. Her shop, aptly named Domestically Green, specializes in wool dryer balls.
I started using wool dryer balls after reading about how they help cloth diapers dry faster. My son had some felted wool balls that were the perfect size that I "commandeered" for use in the dryer. He only had two but I saw a significant reduction in the amount of time that my diapers spent in the dryer (from two cycles down to one). I actually won some dryer balls from Domestically Green a few months ago. I love them! Jackie sent me some lovely purple variegated wool dryer balls. My son didn't get his back, but with four dryer balls I only have to dry my diapers and clothes for about 1/2 a dryer cycle.
Jackie has some very useful information on her Etsy site pertaining to all things "dryer". Wool dryer balls contain NO chemicals or hazardous materials, unlike dryer sheets which can leave a film in your dryer and make your cloth diapers repel liquid instead of absorb it. Over time, this build-up can make your dryer slower, burn out the heating unit and/or cause fires.
How do these dryer balls work, you ask? As the balls are circulated in the dryer, they separate your clothes to allow the warm air from the dryer to get to all of the clothing. The more dryer balls that you add to your dryer, the faster your clothes will dry. In addition, the friction created by the felted wool being rubbed against your clothing helps to cut down on static cling and soften your clothes.

She also has some really cute designer dryer balls. Jackie starts with a regular dryer ball and then needle felts the design onto the ball of 100% wool yarn. The cute print makes the dryer ball a little more fun and also adds an additional layer of wool to reinforce the wool yarn and keep in place to help your dryer ball last for years!
My dryer has balls. Does yours?

Just received a check for $500.
Sometimes people don't believe me when I tell them about how much money you can earn taking paid surveys online...
So I show them a video of myself getting paid $500 for participating in paid surveys to set the record straight.
